February 17-20; April 20 — 4.39 up the line from the RHH box; 8.69 from home to second, standing … Decent pull power — above-average in BP with shot to get there in game action soon; inside out swings with some defensiveness at times, but when he does get the bat head out to turn on a pitch, he can hit it a long ways. Good feel for lift with natural bat path to hit the ball in the air; hit a couple towering, tall home runs in my looks and was robbed of another; more of a fly ball hitter than a line drive look at present. No trouble consistently hitting the ball in the air, particularly to his pull side; should fit well as a pro corner infielder in that regard … Advanced, mature third baseman; reads the ball well and has some feel for when to run in/step back on bouncing balls and choppers. Consistent and accurate arm with good strength across to first base; stays well on line to target. Runs in well on the ball; below-average foot speed, but reactions and first step are fine for third base future; solid there, though little general physical upside/projection remaining … Nolan Bumstead has had a decent career at Cal State Northridge capped by a solid 2018 season here as a senior; that production and his tools should make for a solid late-round senior-sign MLB Draft option in June 2018, and he should fill out nicely as organizational depth at third base in pro ball over the next few summers.
