Organization: University of Southern California
Height/Weight: 5’11”, 175 lbs.

4.20 from the LHH box; 4.54 on the turn at first base; 8.22 home to second (standing).

Notes — April 18
Strong lower half and core; a little bit undersized for ideal, but good physical strength with thick build; near final physical form already here; won’t be a ton of physical upside remaining when he enters pro ball … Max effort guy in the outfield, goes hard and plays hard in all-out style; good intensity/competitiveness … Fires through his back hip at the plate; decent strike zone discipline with modest power and a little bit of lift in his swing. Serviceable with the bat; pretty typical advanced/mature college hitter with some idea of a plan at the plate and coverage to all fields; should transition well enough into pro ball when eligible … Played center field in my looks; below average-arm strength there and really has to max out to get it to his targets sometimes, even from mid-center; gets a little bit of carry on his throws and decent accuracy to target, but really lacking velo behind them; some rainbow on a few throws in from center rather than down on a line through cut-off. Reminds me a little bit of Gerardo Parra through high three-quarters/nearly overhand throwing mechanics … That said, very good range in center field; made two great layout diving catches in my looks on balls he had to run a long way for; great tracker with above-average range. Quick first step there … Solid all-around player; easy/safe to imagine Matthew Acosta as a mid/late round, high floor/low ceiling pro prospect after USC run ends.
