Seth Elledge Scouting Report — RHP, Seattle Mariners

Prospect: Seth Elledge
Position: Right-Handed Pitcher
Organization: Seattle Mariners
Height/Weight: 6’3”, 230 lbs.
Bats/Throws: R/R
Age/DOB: 21 (May 20, 1996)
Acquired/Hometown: Rd. 4 (2017); Dallas Baptist University

May 2, 2018 — Modesto Nuts (High-A, California League)
Big, strong, physical guy who plays the part of a late-inning reliever pretty well; fairly max effort through delivery with command ahead of control, power ahead of finesse at this point. Sat 91-934with his four-seam fastball in my May look; also showed off an 89-92 two-seam, an 80-82 changeup, and a 77-80 slider. Timed him 1.56 – 1.63 to the plate with runners on base … Only saw a couple, but really lacked changeup feel in my look; far better profile as a fastball/slider guy with some ability to miss bats there, particularly against RHH. Breaking balls give hi a shot; heavy fastball helps really ride in on RHH and give him a nice matchup look there … First full pro season this summer, and his adjustment to 140 in the bullpen bears watching. Definitely a power guy with good attributes and workable size, but based on my look here, needs a little bit more velo or wipeout stuff to thrive in a high-leverage role long-term; compared to some of the Seattle Mariners’ better relief prospects (Matt Festa, Art Warren), Seth Elledge is at a tick or two behind, but on the right path and in a good organization to really develop true high-level power stuff in the back end of the bullpen.
