Good athlete; great vertical leap and decent foot speed even considering lack of size and no real physical upside/projectability there … Hustle guy; gritty; I really, really love the way he plays the game. Hustles hard out of the box and out on the field at all times; sets the tone and tempo with his energy … Timed 4.20, 4.20 out of the LHH box; 4.54, 4.54, 4.55, 4.57, and 4.61 on the turn at first base; 8.13 to second (running); 11.90 to third (triple, safe, standing) … Surprisingly good defensive range even considering size; can really move with quick first step laterally, particularly up the middle to his backhand. Natural second baseman who has great game awareness and spatial awareness there; fits in really well at this point … Aggressive base runner who will take the extra base. Very good game awareness in all facets; mature player … Like his bat a little bit; line drive pull stroke doesn’t have much power, but good coverage to all fields; short and to the point with strong bat speed and good barrel control. Nate Mondou is a decent all-around ballplayer who could sneak on the radar for the Oakland Athletics soon even despite being undersized.
