Max Cordy Scouting Report — RHP, Los Angeles Angels

al west los angeles angels baseball prospects news max cordy scouting report
Prospect: Max Cordy
Position: Right-Handed Pitcher
Organization: Los Angeles Angels
Height/Weight: 6’4”, 220 lbs.
Bats/Throws: R/R
Age/DOB: 24 (June 9, 1993)
Acquired/Hometown: Free Agent (2018); Sacramento, CA (UC Davis)

May 22, 2018 — Inland Empire 66ers (High-A, California League)
Traded to the Los Angeles Angels from the Minnesota Twins in early May 2018 … Big, physical guy with thick lower half; drop and drive guy who uses his legs quite a bit through delivery; explosive to the plate, but not much command with which to work … Sat 90-94 with his fastball (some arm-side life, modest sink) in my look here; paired it with a tight, small 84-87 slider. Neither of which seemed to be an exceptional out pitch without above-average velo or great late life … Timed 1.32 – 1.39 to home with runners on first. Lacks true wipeout pitch; likely future organizational depth for the Los Angeles Angels.

March 23, 2018 — MiLB Spring Training (Minnesota Twins)
Fastball sat 90-95 during Twins spring training; paired with an 84-86 slider and a changeup (no radar); timed 1.23 – 1.31 to the plate with runners on base … Lacks feel for fastball command; pitch can really take off to arm-side on him if he’s not in line … Slider looked a little stronger in this outing; can get it in under LHH hands with enough to keep them honest on the inner half; weapon there when well-commanded; hitters having some trouble squaring up the slider.
