Cameron Santos, 3B, Chico State

Well above-average defender at third base for Chico State; glove will be carrying tool in pro ball with extensive collegiate track record playing the position at a high level. Above-average arm strength with good velo and accuracy across the diamond; quick reactions with great footwork at third base. Tracks the ball well; very good hands; consistent defender who can execute on every routine play and make his fair share of advanced defensive stops. For me, Cameron Santos will probably see a move to second base (or utility infield) in pro ball as he’s unlikely to show enough power at the plate to stick at a corner, but he can pick it at third and should quickly become an above-average pro defender up the middle or in a utility/platoon role … Overall athleticism is good, too; timed 4;22 and 4.26 up the line from the RHH box in May look. Also shows a short, compact, efficient stroke at the plate that has the potential to produce gap-to-gap line drive contact in pro ball; barrel skills here, but likely without enough over-the-fence pop to warrant an everyday role at third base. Regardless, Cameron Santos made a name for himself defensively at Chico State, and those carrying tools should serve him well in pro ball towards a utility/platoon infielder ceiling.
