Evan White Scouting Report — 1B, Seattle Mariners

Prospect: Evan White
Position: First Baseman
Organization: Seattle Mariners
Height/Weight: 6’3″, 205 lbs.
Bats/Throws: R/L
Age/DOB: 22 (April 26, 1996)
Acquired/Hometown: Round 1 (2017): Columbus, OH (Kentucky)

May 2, 2018 — Modesto Nuts (High-A, California League)
Tall with some power; surprising athleticism for size; moves particularly well at first base with a lot of range for the position and good footwork, good lateral quickness. Positions himself well and shows good anticipation of certain situations in game; natural there and will stick at the position; team officials raved to me about his defense in particular … Surprised me with a 4.17 run up the line from the RHH box in May 2 look; faster than you’d assume with some sneaky underlying athleticism … Very patient hitter; not afraid to work deep counts and will draw walks; goes up to the plate with a plan and knows how to execute on it. Full plate coverage with ability to hit to all fields; power stroke to pull side with good raw power from sturdy frame there. Average bat speed; well-balanced at the plate; rarely caught off balance/off guard and makes for a tough, professional at-bat … Admittedly need to see Evan White more to really draw some conclusions on him, particularly offensively, but the Seattle Mariners prospect made a good first impression on me and has some real every day upside thus far in his career.
