Jacob Bosiokovic Scouting Report & Game Video

Position: 1B/OF
Height/Weight: 6’5”, 240 lbs.
Bats/Throws: R/R
Birthdate: December 21, 1993
Hometown: Delaware, Ohio
School: Ohio State University
FV (20-80): 40 (Bench Power Bat)
MLB ETA: 2020

Dates Observed: June 9, 2018

Team/Organization: Lancaster JetHawks (Colorado Rockies)
League/Level: California League (High-A)
Scouting Notes: Big kid, great power frame with strong, broad shoulders, potentially explosive lower half. Good show during BP; above-average raw power, particularly to pull side, with real ability to lift the ball in the air. Decent bat speed, good hand/wrist strength with barrel manipulation; really, really struggling to access that same power in game action, however. Struggling mightily in High-A early this year, not picking up spin and swinging at everything in my early June look. In over his head some in Lancaster; having a very tough first few weeks after being added late from extended. Granted, a couple of his particularly bad whiffs in my first look came against Adrian Morejon, but Jacob Bosiokovic must quickly become more selective, better define his strike zone, cut down some of his swing length, and better be able to hit the ball to all fields, even if the over-the-fence pop will continue to come to his pull side … Jacob Bosiokovic didn’t make a great first impression here, particularly for being in such a hitter-friendly environment, but we’ll check in again later this summer and see whether he’s made some adjustments against High-A pitching.
