One of the most storied and most well-run franchises of the California League, the San Jose Giants have enjoyed a close affiliation with—and then ownership under—their parent club and namesake, the nearby San Francisco Giants since 1988. Playing their games at historic San Jose Municipal Stadium, the Giants even played in the Pacific Coast League for two seasons (1977 and 1978) before linking up with the Cal League and settling into their present role as High-A affiliate and often-used rehab site for big leaguers seeking a few games of tune-up after an injury.

San Jose Municipal Stadium has its quirks, and it’s old (built in 1941), but the SJ Giants are among the class outfits of the Cal League and they’ve been competitive in recent years and longer history to back that up, with nine league titles and nine more division titles to their credit, including five of each since 2001. The Giants have sent more than 200 players to the big leagues, including major stars like Buster Posey, Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, and Madison Bumgarner.
