Scouting Report
Very tall, very lanky lefty. Long and lean, big-time physical upside ahead even with modest weight gain. Redshirted in spring 2019 after suffering a collapsed lung; still recovering and returning to full strength on into 2020, velocity hasn’t bounced up yet but stuff plays, shows pitchability, fearless on the mound with good feel for the strike zone and ability to get guys off balance. Changeup is his best pitch; goes to it early and often with good downward life and some fade; equal look to RHH and LHH, trusts it and well throw it in virtually any count. FB OK but lacks velo; command is fine; same with breaking ball, not overly sharp and needs more of a wipeout look but serviceable pitch for him around the zone. Pitches more than throws; carves guys up, changes speeds. Physical projection makes me dream on him a little bit; wonder what he’ll look like at true full strength with a couple JuCo years under his belt, especially coming out of a program like Cypress. Feels like a middle relief future or as a set-up guy, but definitely enough value here with command feel to get outs at the next level regardless of role; future will really take a turn if he can continue to develop more velocity along with current profile.
